Spring in the Marketplace
Yes, there’s plenty in season, even this early in the year!
At Long Family Markets, our standard is local first, not local only. Participating businesses are generally located within 100 miles of the market, which means our offerings change with the seasons. While the produce selection is just beginning to grow in early spring, there’s no shortage of amazing local products to enjoy!
What’s in Season in Early Spring?
- Cold-weather crops: Spinach, lettuce, kale, and radishes begin to appear as they emerge from local farms.
- Garden plants: Opening Day brings a variety of plants and seedlings to jumpstart your spring garden.
What Else Can You Find at the Market?
While we wait for more produce to ripen, you’ll find an abundance of locally made goods:
- Fresh baked goods, plus coffees, teas, and other drinks to brighten your morning
- Locally raised meats, including beef, pork, and chicken, perfect for family meals
- Virginia honey, a sweet treat with a taste of home
- Prepared foods to enjoy on-site or take home
- Skincare products crafted with care by local artisans
The market offers so much more than food. It’s an experience! Come meet your local small business and microbusiness owners, explore their unique products, and connect with others in the community.
Why Visit the Market?
- Support local: Every dollar spent helps small businesses grow and strengthens our local economy.
- Build community: Chat with neighbors, share gardening tips, or grab a snack and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
- Celebrate spring: There’s no better way to welcome the season than with fresh air, fresh food, and fresh ideas!
We can’t wait to see you on Opening Day, the first Sunday in April, and every Sunday after. Bring your friends, your family, and your love for all things local. We promise you’ll leave with a smile and something special in hand.
Here’s to a vibrant new season of fresh discoveries at Long Family Markets!
